There are many wonderful critters of the Wetlands.
Did you know, more than one-third of the U.S. threatened and endangered species live only in wetlands?
The biodiversity of fish and shellfish in the wetlands can range from menhaden, flounder, sea trout, spot, croaker, and striped bass, shrimp, oysters, clams, and blue and Dungeness crabs.
Onto Birds! Up to one-half of North-American bird species nest or feed in wetlands.
Wetlands are a primary home for migrating for birds. Without wetlands, our birds would be homeless during winters or summers depending upon the bird.
Luckily, we have programs like the Migratory Bird Program, which helps in conserving migratory birds and where they inhabit. It actually restores bird populations and habitats as well, in the hopes that it will benefit future generations. The over-arching goal is to ensure ecological sustainability for all migratory birds.
